Counselling Services
I see counselling as a safe place for people to share their stories, heal, and grow. I support people in gaining a deeper understanding of their experiences, walking through difficulty one step at a time, and living meaningfully. Along the way, I also offer practical tools and insights for navigating difficult emotions, relationships, and life circumstances. As a psychologist and a human being, I am honoured to be here for others and hope to contribute to this world being a better place.
My counselling practice is grounded in research in neuroscience, psychology, and education. I primarily use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC), and Existential Therapy. These approaches attend to thoughts, emotions, and body-focused regulation strategies, while also considering the actions that can help move toward what matters. Depending on each person’s experiences and needs, I also offer Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Complicated Grief Disorder Therapy (CGDT), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT for children and youth).
Assessment Services
I provide comprehensive differential diagnosis and psychoeducational assessments for children, adolescents, and adults. Some of the assessment areas include ADHD, giftedness, learning difficulties, Autism, stress and trauma, anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, sleep, as well as child and adolescent behavioural difficulties. I strive to answer each person’s specific questions and provide clarity about strengths, daily life strategies, additional resources, as well as learning and workplace accommodations.
Please note that, to better understand each person’s needs and individual circumstances, I may ask questions about various aspects of daily life, including lifestyle habits, work or learning strategies, and the use of technology. These questions are intended to support a broader understanding of what may be affecting a person’s wellbeing and functioning. I respect each person’s autonomy in choosing the strategies and tools that work best for them, as well as their preference not to answer every question.
Professional Background
I have been practicing as a Registered Psychologist in Saskatchewan since 2013. My practice has included the areas of clinical, counselling, and school psychology serving adults, adolescents, and children over the age of 4.
My professional path as a psychologist started in residential services for children and youth with compex emotional and behavioural needs, as well as in community-based counselling and assessment teams with access to multidisciplinary consultation resources. I began working in private practice, establishing Horizon in 2017. I continue to serve as a clinical director and co-owner of our clinic.
I am deeply committed to developing qualified, evidence-based services and mental health support systems for people in Saskatchewan. I am also dedicated to supporting sustainability in work of health and mental health care professionals in our province. My practice includes supervision for provisionally-registered psychologists, as well as professional consultations to counsellors, psychologists, and organizations. Additionally, I provide counselling services for professionals experiencing ongoing empathic distress and fatigue in their work of offering care to others.
When possible, it gives me much joy to contribute volunteer time to initiatives supporting education for mental health professionals and public, as well as services and resources for vulnerable groups and underserved communities. Inquiries about professional collaboration in this area are always welcome.
