Counselling Services

I see therapy as a safe place for my clients to heal, learn, and grow. I strive to be a caring and engaging professional, who helps others feel comfortable and supported. I enjoy helping people walk through challenging experiences and live their lives fully.

During the last 12 years, my counselling practice has been focused on the following areas:

  • anxiety
  • trauma and resiliency
  • grief and loss, as well as death and dying
  • recent life changes
  • health issues and chronic illness
  • depression, thoughts about not wanting to live, and self-harm
  • relationships with significant others, tension in relationships, and separation
  • parenting and behavioural problems in children and youth (aggressive, impulsive, oppositional, and sexual behaviour problems)

I am also a registered provider with the Canadian Armed Forces, RCMP, and Veterans Affairs, offering support to adults currently serving or who have served in military and first responder roles.

I am a humanistic therapist at the core. My approach is grounded in existential and Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) therapies. Depending on my clients’ needs, I also use Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT), and Complicated Grief Disorder Therapy (CGDT), as well as mindfulness and self-compassion approaches. My practice is informed by research in psychology, education, and neuroscience to offer my clients everyday tools for balance and health.

Assessment Services

I provide comprehensive differential diagnosis and psycho-educational assessments to children, adolescents, and adults. My  assessment practice includes the following purposes: contribute to clarity about personal strengths and beneficial supports, treatment planning, as well as learning and community accommodations.

Professional Background

I have been registered with the Saskatchewan College of Psychologists since 2013. My practice has included the areas of clinical, counselling, and school psychology services with adults, adolescents, and children. Early in my professional practice, I provided counselling and mental health, psychoeducational, and Autism assessments in residential and community-based services to chidlren, teens, and adults.

I started working in private practice, establishing Horizon Psychological & Counselling Services in 2017. During the last several years, I have served as a co-owner and Clinical Director of our clinic.

I am dedicated to developing quality, evidence-based, sustainable services, and support systems for people in Saskatchewan and across Canada. I am also deeply committed to enhancing the training of mental health professionals in our province and creating capacity for services in various areas of need. I provide supervision to provisionally-registered psychologists, as well as professional consultations to counsellors and psychologists, both within the clinic and in the community.

Prior to becoming a registered psychologist, between 2007 and 2013, I worked in several mental health roles in community mental health services, residential treatment, university, and high-school settings. My experince included counselling, treatment planning, risk assessment and management, development and facilitation of psychoeducational programming, as well as clinical leadership and education. I continue to use the skills gained in these settings in my professional practice and deeply value the professional relationships established over the years.
