I believe that people naturally want to be well, do well in life, and realize their full potential. At times, though, we all struggle to feel our best. Reaching out for support is a powerful way to find a path forward with resilience, empowerment, and growth. Each person is uniquely made up of multifaceted life experiences. As such, their values and beliefs are as unique as their goals. From a foundation of humanistic psychology, I provide individually responsive, context-specific, trauma-informed, and evidence-based care while valuing client diversity. Using an integrative approach that validates and supports individuality, I collaborate in my work with children, adolescents, and adults in the ways they are most comfortable. I am happy to meet with clients in person, via telephone, and in a virtual meeting space.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Master’s in Counselling (Applied Psychology). I have spent my career working with children, youth, and their families, supporting their unique needs and fostering growth in early education in the school setting. I have also worked with university students facing various personal challenges. I am passionate about building relationships and honoured to work in a clinical environment continuing to support individuals through counselling.
Evidence-based models of care currently informing my approach include:
Person-centred therapy – where clients realize growth through therapeutic empathy and acceptance.
Narrative therapy – focused on separating people from their problems and exploring/reframing the meaning created from our experiences.
Solution-focused brief therapy – a short-term, goal-directed model that uses positive psychology and focuses on one’s present and future to construct solutions to problems.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy – supports the exploration of thoughts, feelings, and behaviours; interrupts unhelpful patterns and promotes desired ones.
