“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.”
-Viktor E. Frankl
As a counsellor, I strive to listen closely and compassionately. My focus is on helping youth and adults untangle life’s complexities within a safe therapeutic environment. I support clients in discovering and exploring core beliefs that influence their lives with the help of empirically supported cognitive-behavioural interventions. My practice is also informed by person-centered therapy and mindfulness-based approaches. I also integrate emotional regulation strategies into therapy to build a personal toolbox of helpful and practical coping strategies. Using a collaborative approach, I help my clients identify valuable strengths and resources they can use to pursue their goals.
Educational and Professional Background
My educational training includes a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Psychology and a Masters of Counselling (Applied Psychology). I have 7 years of experience working in the community mental health field in a variety of settings, including disability treatment programs, residential treatment homes, criminal justice programs, and mental health crisis response services.
I am passionate about working with people who experience symptoms of anxiety and depression, and who struggle with the effects of grief and loss. I also have experience working with youth and adults with a variety of emotional and behavioural concerns.
