I enjoy helping my clients find their strengths and create balance in their unique lives.
For over 12 years, I have served in the field of human services, social justice and community health. As a counsellor, I am honoured to work with clients who wish to address the challenges that have become a difficult reality in their lives.
I focus my work on the areas of anxiety, stress management, anger control, relationship problems, and recent life changes (separation and divorce, career/vocational changes, moves, and illness). In addition, I work with those who wish to address problematic sexual behaviour or addiction problems.
Through my work with adults and teens, I support them in recognizing their needs, pathways for personal growth, and specific means for attaning goals.
Entering into counselling can be stressful in itself. This initial step requires bravery, some risk-taking, and vulnerability. I want to make this process as safe and comfortable for you as possible. I believe in the therapeutic power of relationships and strive to create an atmosphere of respect, open communication and compassion.
My counselling is client-centered and strength-based, offered in a caring and confidential environment. I believe in a collaborative and open approach in working with clients as we address issues and pursue the clients’ goals. Together, we can face your concerns. You have strengths that we will draw and build upon to assist you in achieving your desired outcomes. We will find the barriers and patterns that may be keeping you from reaching your goals. We can access and build the skills to help you find personal fulfillment.
Having worked in both government and private settings, I am fortunate to have worked with a wide range of clients in age, identity and backgrounds. Through this work, I have built strong skills in helping adolescents and adults with behavioural problems, anxiety, chronic pain, and addictions. Among my professional experiences, I have been particularly involved in addressing: anxiety, depression, and dealing with loss of physical functioning.
I have been fortunate to work in assisting adolescents with interventions regarding: multiple issues with school and family, sexual behaviour problems, as well as aggressive, impulsive and oppositional behaviours. I have also worked in the addictions field in individual and group settings with adolescents and adults. Additionally, I have extensive experience in career and vocational services including counselling, job search training, resume writing, vocational assessments and transferable skills analysis.
As a Registered Social Worker, my services are recognized by nearly all health insurance providers.
